A Meditation for TuBishvat
This meditation celebrates Tu BiShevat, the Jewish New Year for Plants and Trees. There is a tradition and ritual on this holiday to eat and celebrate the 7 native species to the land of Israel mentioned by The Creator (to Moses) in the Torah. A text known as the Perek Shirah (“Song of the Universe”), often attributed to King Solomon or King David, connects the six of the seven species with later texts from the Tanakh -- except the olive tree [something to meditate on itself!]. For this meditation, I chose a text for olives that spoke to me. Later, Kabbalists take things a step further – connecting these species with mystical qualities, aspects of The Creator (sefirot), and more. This meditation will explore all of these amazing ways to connect with these sacred gifts from nature.
Thank you for taking time to learn and practice today.
